Revolutionising the way research is used in
public health planning and delivery
Knowledge for Public Health is the NIHR National Institute for Health and Care Research-funded public health knowledge mobilisation team.
KNOW-PH for short, the team aims to move research evidence generated by NIHR closer to local and national public health decision making.
There are 3 core elements to KNOW-PH
Firstly, the work is Co-productive.
We work with knowledge users to mobilise evidence that meets their needs for populations, policy or practice.
Our community partners, AFRUCA are leading community involvement.
We focus on health inequalities.
All the work we do will attempt to support the goal to reduce health inequalities
We will be creative by using different, digital and real world art and design inspired methods to bring evidence to life.
The programme has two main arms
Rapid Response
Deep Coproduction
We respond rapidly to local authorities’ evidence need. Projects last 3-6 months. Learn more from our video summary.
If you wish to know more contact Liz Such.
The second arm is focused on deep coproduction. We will work closely with local government partners over an extended period of time to deeply embed evidence in decision processes.
Creative coproduction methods might include working with the performing arts, engaging in creative digital design and using Lego serious play.
We will use storytelling techniques to help partners make sense of evidence and put into action what the implications of that evidence might be to improve public health and reduce health inequalities.
